Ruben Amorim was not happy with Filippo Terracciano’s red card against Salzburg last night, handed out within 15 minutes of the defender coming off the bench.
Towards the end of Milan’s game against Salzburg, Amorim decided to make some changes in defence, first bringing on Filippo Terracciano (67th minute) and then the youngster Sankhoun Diawara (82nd minute).
As Fikayo Tomori made his first appearance of the season, and Pavlovic has played a lot lately, the two changes made a lot of sense. Sadly for Amorim, while it looked good initially, one of those changes left him with a sour taste.
In the 83rd minute, as Salzburg were bursting forward on the counter, Terracciano pushed the opponent a little bit too much and was thus sent off. While some will argue that it probably stopped a goal, Mike Maignan could have saved it too.

As you can see in the video above, Amorim was far from happy when the referee picked up the red card, throwing a water bottle to the ground. In his interview with MilanTV afterwards, he explained that the man-marking had worked so well before that moment, which made it sting even more.
In the end, Milan managed to preserve the clean sheet but as Amorim alluded to, the mistake could have been more costly.
