Cleverley wants reaction after 'humbling' defeat
Tom Cleverley runs his hand through his hair in frustration
Three of Plymouth Argyle's four League One defeats under Tom Cleverley this season have come at home

Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley wants to see a reaction from his side after a "humbling" 2-0 loss to Huddersfield Town at Home Park.

The defeat means the Pilgrims have slipped from first to fourth in League One as their opponents jumped a place above them.

Argyle had just one shot on target as Derensili Sanches Fernandes' sixth-minute strike and a Bojan Radulovic goal 10 minutes into the second half inflicted a third home loss of the season on Cleverley's team.

"Technically they've got a great side, then you've got to go firmer in your duels, you've got to run harder, you've got to be really concentrated away from the ball, really structured to get on top of your individual battles and then the game," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"If anything we shrunk away from that challenge.

"We were dominated in every phase of the game, a humbling afternoon and one that we are determined to react from with two important games coming up.

"You have to take defeat on the chin in afternoons like that where you're second best."

Having generally had an impressive home record Argyle have struggled at Home Park this season.

As well as losing three games in the league on home turf they also needed a late stoppage-time winner to get past AFC Wimbledon last week.

Cleverley hopes it is a record that they can turn around as the season goes on, having put in some excellent performances in front of their own supporters last season.

"We've not managed to hit rhythm here," he added, with a trip to Stevenage up next on Tuesday (19:45 BST).

"We had a spell last season, four or five months, where Huddersfield, Luton, Cardiff, the Port Vale game, where we hit rhythm and that team's changed, five or six new players who have not managed to experience or have enough good experiences here and it still looks a little bit nervy.

"So even with a game that we win last week, it wasn't great for 90, 95 minutes.

"There's doors we need to unlock now and we've been really good as a staff and a group of players - I think we went 32 games and only one team stopped us scoring, now I think that's three in six.

"So we need to get back to what we are and scoring freely.

"We're conceding too many big chances in the first 15 minutes, so that's something I have to address.

"Is that a mentality thing, a structure thing, approach, warm up? All these things that you don't sleep as a coach after a performance like that.

"I've got a really honest group of lads who will be accountable for today, who will be really, really keen to be in the team for Tuesday so they can show that they're hurting and they've been really good at that in my time here."
