A spectator at the Singapore Grand Prix could face jail after allegedly gaining access to several areas of the Marina Bay circuit without a valid ticket. The incident led to two arrests during the opening day of the Formula 1 weekend, with one of the men now facing criminal proceedings.

Singapore Police confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on 10 October, revealing that the two individuals, aged 35 and 39, attempted to enter the venue on Friday afternoon.

The incident began at approximately 1:45pm local time on Temasek Avenue, where security staff stopped the younger man after discovering that his ticket was invalid. His companion, however, allegedly managed to enter the event despite also lacking a valid ticket.

The 39-year-old then reportedly made his way into an additional restricted area intended exclusively for event employees and performing artists.

How the Singapore GP security incident unfolded

Local newspaper The Straits Times identified the older suspect as Daver Arish Adil, a 39-year-old Indian national. According to court documents reported by the newspaper, Adil allegedly entered the ticketed section through Gate 2 before reaching an area known as the Wharf, located along Raffles Boulevard, around 15 minutes later.

Security personnel eventually discovered his presence and detained him. Police received notification of the incident at approximately 3pm before proceeding with his arrest.

Officers also arrested the 35-year-old man on Temasek Boulevard. Investigators established that the two individuals knew each other, although enquiries into the younger suspect's involvement are continuing.

Adil appeared in court on 10 October, facing two charges of criminal trespass. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of three months in prison, a S$1,500 fine, or a combination of both under Singaporean law.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 16 October, according to Channel News Asia. The proceedings remain ongoing, and no guilty verdict has been delivered.

Previous Singapore GP trespasser received jail sentence

This is not the first time unauthorised access to the Singapore Grand Prix has resulted in criminal proceedings. In December 2025, a 23-year-old Swedish exchange student was sentenced to four weeks in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of criminal trespass during that year's event.

As detailed by The Straits Times, the student initially entered the circuit with the assistance of a teenage volunteer, despite not holding a valid admission ticket. He subsequently reached the Paddock Club, one of the event's most exclusive hospitality areas, before making his way into the pit lane, where Formula 1 teams and their cars were located.

The circumstances of the latest incident differ from that case. Police have not indicated that either man arrested during the 2026 Grand Prix reached the Formula 1 paddock or pit lane.
