Newbridge bid for a third successive Derry SFC title this evening when they face Magherafelt in a repeat of last season’s decider at Find Insurance Celtic Park.
The holders survived a late fightback to prevail by two points last year after claiming a shock win over the-then All-Ireland club champions Glen in the 2024 final.
They were edged out by eventual Ulster champions Scotstown on penalties in a thrilling provincial semi-final last autumn.
As fate would have it, the Monaghan side await the winners of this evening’s game in the Ulster quarter-final in a fortnight’s time.
Gary Hetherington and Kevin Brady won’t allow that to be any sort of a distraction as they face a Magherafelt team who were convincing 0-14 to 1-6 winners over Slaughtneil in the last four.
Newbridge also impressed in the semi-finals, beating Glen 2-16 to 1-10.
With Enda Muldoon on the sideline along with Gavin Devlin and Stephen Kernan, the Rossa men will have to find the answers to halt a talented Newbridge outfit who would join Ballinderry on 13 senior football titles with a win this evening.
Magherafelt last lifted the John McLoughlin Cup in 2019, but they lost three finals since then.
Can they topple the holders or will Newbridge make it a hat-trick of Derry SFC titles?
We’ll have all the build up and team news ahead of throw-in at the later time of 5pm owing to Storm Boelo.
