India Women produced a disciplined bowling performance against Zimbabwe Women in the first ODI at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on October 23. After Zimbabwe captain Nomvelo Sibanda elected to bat first, the visitors struggled to build substantial partnerships against India’s bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for 197.
Shree Charani led the effort with four wickets, while Kranti Gaud delivered an impressive spell that included a perfectly executed yorker to dismiss Chiedza Dhururu.
The dismissal came in the 36th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when Kranti bowled a yorker outside off stump at a speed of 102.9 kmph. Dhururu attempted to dig the delivery out, but could only manage a thick inside edge. The ball clipped the leg-stump bails, sending the Zimbabwe batter back to the pavilion for 10 off 23 deliveries.
Kranti immediately let out a roar to celebrate the breakthrough, having beaten the batter with an accurate delivery at the base of the stumps. The dismissal further dented Zimbabwe’s efforts to build momentum and demonstrated the Indian pacer’s ability to execute her plans under pressure.

Zimbabwe struggled to establish a strong foundation after being asked to bat first. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano contributed 21 runs off 27 balls, while Modester Mupachikwa added 25 off 44 deliveries. Beloved Biza provided the most substantial contribution, scoring 62 off 92 balls with five boundaries to keep the innings moving.
Mitchel Mavunga offered some late resistance with an aggressive 29 off 23 deliveries, including three fours and a six. However, regular wickets prevented Zimbabwe from building a competitive total, and they were dismissed for 197. Charani was India’s standout bowler, finishing with figures of 4/23 in 10 overs, including three maidens. Kranti claimed three wickets for 42 runs, while Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket apiece.
