The Los Angeles Rams’ woes have gone from bad to worse.
On Monday, news broke that Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring, which will keep him sidelined for six to 10 weeks.
Technically, he suffered a semitendinosus rupture, which is a tear or complete detachment of the semitendinosus muscle or its tendon, one of the three core hamstring muscles running down the back of the thigh.
Rams head coach Sean McVay made the announcement during Monday’s media availability with reporters.
The 33-year-old veteran got hurt on the Rams’ penultimate possession in their 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
However, it’s possible Adams initially injured the hamstring a few plays before he limped off to the sidelines. With the Rams trailing 15-9 and in the game’s closing minutes, quarterback Matthew Stafford hit Puka Nacua for a big gain. As the talented wideout jaunted down the field, toward the end of the play, a defender rolled up the back of Adams’ leg.
The future Hall of Fame wide receiver remained in the game. A couple of plays later, it all went terribly wrong for Los Angeles.
Adams is just the most recent Rams star player to deal with an injury in this early portion of the season.
On Monday, they announced defensive tackle Poona Ford’s season is over with a ruptured triceps muscle, as is kicker Blake Grupe after a knee injury. They’ll also be without DT Kobie Turner, who heads to the IR with a groin injury.
Star edge rusher Myles Garrett remains sidelined with a knee injury,
Adams’ partner in crime Puka Nacua missed time with a hip issue earlier this year, and several other key Rams players suffered injuries in their loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
Adams has 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns to this point in the season.
This is the last thing that the now 2-4 Rams wanted to hear after what has been a brutal start to their campaign.
