Tommy Fleetwood talks life on the road with son Frankie and making memories

EXCLUSIVE: Tommy Fleetwood has opened up on the joy of sharing his life as a globetrotting tour pro with his family, with his nine-year-old son Frankie lapping up the experience at Delhi Golf Club

NEW DELHI — Tommy Fleetwood tees off in India on Thursday as a defending champion, and his son Frankie is in tow once again.

The enduring image of Tommy's DP World India Championship victory 12 months ago was his son running onto Delhi Golf Club's 18th green to celebrate. It was the first time the youngster saw his father win in person.

A year later, 9-year-old Frankie is swaggering around the place, mixing with the pros on the practice putting green, and draining a few of his own. On Tuesday, he sank a 30ft downhill slider that any player in the field would be thrilled with.

Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald was impressed, though next year's duel with the Americans at Adare Manor might come a touch too soon for young Frankie. Priceless memories, though.

"I brought him over, and I said, 'You can come and hang out for a little bit,' and he putted," world No. 6 Tommy told Mirror U.S. Sports. "Then, as I left the putting green, I turned around, and he wasn't there; he was practicing with Luke Donald, so he's definitely not shy on a putting green.

"But it's great. He loves the game, and being able to travel the world and see different places and golf courses with their own unique cultures and everything is great. He loves it, and it's great having him around. I love that he loves the game."

Tommy, 35, has mixed golf with family life more in recent years, with wife Clare and step-sons Mo and Oscar also following him around the world. But the season is due to finish next month in their adopted home, the United Arab Emirates, with the DP World Tour playoffs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

It remains uncertain whether the tournaments will go ahead as planned due to the conflict in Iran, which has had a ripple effect across the Middle East, and Fleetwood does not feel qualified to give fellow players meaningful advice about making the trip.

"As someone who lives there, you have your own experience of what's going on, but I am definitely in no position to know what's going on in world politics," he said.

"I think everybody's sort of up in the air with what's going on. We'll see what happens throughout the rest of the year and hopefully the tournament can go ahead."

After a career-defining 2025 highlighted by his starring role in an away Ryder Cup victory, the Englishman is winless in 2026, but he is content with his efforts, and he hopes to finish the year on a high.

"I have three events left, and I would love to finish as strongly as possible. Then we can sit and reflect and see how it was, and the good stuff and the not-so-good stuff.

"I put myself into contention a lot. I haven't won yet as of this year, but overall it's been a pretty good year."
