Mourinho on UCL opener against Inter: 'I just want to win'
"When the most beautiful moments of a long career are not the goals or the victories, but the emotions for which I can only humbly express my gratitude," the Portuguese tactician wrote.
"Thank you, Roma. Thank you, Romanisti. Eternal feelings of gratitude towards you. Jose," concluded a visibly moved Mourinho before his former supporters.
The Roma faithful serenaded Mourinho with chants and unfurled a touching banner that read: "Whoever brings glory to Roma will be honoured by Roma forever. Your hands consecrated the spoils, and the people pay you eternal tribute."
Jose Mourinho was at the helm of the 'Giallorossi' between August 2021 and January 2024, when he was dismissed despite retaining the staunch backing of both his squad and the fanbase. Across that tenure, he oversaw 138 matches and lifted the 2022 UEFA Conference League.
