Celtic 'considering' January loan move for Joel van den Berg

The 19-year-old Dutch midfielder, who was signed from PSV Eindhoven in the summer for £3.4 million, is yet to make his competitive debut for the club.

Football Insider has reported that Van den Berg is seen as a future asset by Celtic. However, the club acknowledges that he needs time to adjust to his new surroundings.

If first-team opportunities remain limited, a loan move in January could be considered to help his development. Van den Berg made his breakthrough with PSV last season, featuring in five Eredivisie matches.

Despite joining Celtic late in the summer window, he has found it challenging to secure a place in the first-team squad. He has not been part of a matchday squad since September 9, partly due to injury.

Per the report, Celtic are keen to ensure that a lack of game time does not hinder Van den Berg's development.

However, they will also consider their squad depth before making any decisions about a potential January loan move. The teenager might still be required as cover if injuries affect the midfield.
