A season full of unfamiliar opponents will continue this weekend for Penn State. The team will travel to play the Washington Huskies on Saturday, a school it has only faced four teams in college football history.
However, the Huskies just joined the Big Ten in 2024, so they will likely match up with the Nittany Lions a lot more in the future.
Penn State has never lost a game to Washington in the series’ 105-year history. The blue and white are 4-0, with the last matchup in 2024 being a 35-6 rout.
An interesting note is that half of the meetings between these two teams were Bowl Games. The Nittany Lions earned a 13-10 victory in the 1983 Aloha Bowl, as well as a 35-28 win in the 2017 Fiesta Bowl.
It was an all-around dominant offensive performance from Penn State during its 2024 meeting with Washington. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 70% of his passes for 220 yards and a touchdown through the air. Running backs Kaytron Allen and Corey Smith combined for 193 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Penn State’s offense has struggled in conference play this season, but hopefully the unit can turn it around and have a performance like 2024.
