Aston Villa have been dealt a big injury blow after Aaron Wan-Bissaka hobbled off against Newcastle United with a hamstring injury.
Unai Emery’s side won the game 1-0 thanks to Johan Manzambi’s third goal for the club, but they now face a crisis at left-back.
Ian Maatsen and Matteo Ruggeri are already sidelined with injuries, so Wan-Bissaka had started the last two matches at left-back.
Following his injury at St James’ Park, Tyrone Mings saw out the game at left-back, a position he played earlier in his career.
“It is a hamstring. He played fantastic when we needed him against Brentford, Fenerbahce and today. Different players are being injured and the competitions are tough," said Emery post-match.

“Ian Maatsen is getting better and he will start training with us next week. We are going to find another solution, like with Tyrone Mings in the last 10 minutes.”
It’s a big issue for Villa, who still have six more matches to play over the next three weeks before the November international break. However, news of Maatsen’s progress is a positive, provided he can get back up to speed quickly.
Villa will host Viking FK before welcoming Manchester City next week. They will then travel to Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup before taking on Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday, October 31.
Trips to Barcelona and Manchester United follow at the start of November, before the international break.
