Andy Burnham may have just said something about Celtic that will put Rangers fans off him for the foreseeable future.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom visited Scotland to meet with the Scottish Labour staffers on Friday.

He also made a revelation that his son, Jimmy, is marrying into a Hibs family and is asking him to support the Edinburgh outfit as well.

Scottish football chiefs are considering bringing an end to the Saturday 3pm blackout. What are your thoughts on that? Will it help or hinder things?

Andy Burnham has revealed that he is a Celtic fan

The Ibrox outfit will certainly have been put off by Burnham’s comments, as he made a revelation that he actually supports Celtic in Scottish football. He stated that his son was at Easter Road for the game between Hibs and the Hoops.

Jimmy made his best efforts to convince Andy to support the Easter Road outfit, but he did not succeed in his efforts. The PM shared that his son is marrying into a Hibs family, so that perhaps played a role in it.

He said: “My son is marrying into a Hibs family, so he was up for Hibs-Celtic last week. Was it last week, was it? He was at Easter Road last week, so he’s up and down a lot now.

“He’s trying to get me on this. I’m more Celtic. He’s got me leaning Hibs a bit.”

Andy Burnham has been on record multiple times that he is a fan of Everton in the Premier League, but has a different team for the Scottish Premiership. For some reason, he believes that the green half of Glasgow is the better side to support.

Why has Burnham supported Celtic over Rangers?

In previous interviews, Burnham has revealed that he grew up owning a split Everton/Celtic ski hat along with a full Celtic hat. He pointed to the history of common players like Bobby Collins and John Collins and the bond between the two clubs.

He has also been critical of the affinity between the Hoops and Liverpool, who are Everton’s cross-town rivals. Burnham has also gone on record to state that he fails to understand the love-in between the two clubs around You’ll Never Walk Alone.
