The Minnesota Vikings have an extra day before they kick off against the Buffalo Bills for a Monday Night Football contest. At 6-1, they continue their search for a competent offense to compliment Brian Flores’ dominant defense.
Kevin O’Connell and Nolan Teasley have yet to bring in any reinforcements on the trade market. Thus, with Kyler Murray ruled out Monday night against Buffalo with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Carson Wentz is set to make his second start of the season.
Wentz knows the importance of getting Justin Jefferson the rock, but he’ll have another LSU alum to target as well, after Odell Beckham Jr. was signed off Minnesota’s practice squad to the active roster.
After not playing last season at all, Odell Beckham Jr. returned to the New York Giants for 2026. He lasted three games before they released him. Now, OBJ is back with O’Connell, who he won a Super Bowl with in Los Angeles.
With Jauan Jennings ruled out for the game and the subject of trade rumors, Beckham will get his shot to prove he deserves a permanent spot on the 53-man roster. Beckham still has yet to be announced as active for Monday. Still, this is the closest he has been to suiting up for the Vikings, to this point.
Don’t expect the 34-year-old wideout to have the same burst he did while playing at an All-Pro level. Then again, he doesn’t need to be that guy in Minnesota. The Vikings offense has been in shambles this season, but if active, Beckham will give Wentz another proven target against the Bills.
It remains to be seen how much Beckham will play, and whether he can pass Myles Price or Tai Felton in the overall pecking order. Jennings logged 68% of the offensive snaps while active this season, but has just six receptions on 10 targets.
