Broncos will move into first in AFC West if they beat Chiefs next week

What a difference six weeks can make.

The Denver Broncos went on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 and were embarrassed in a 31-10 loss on Monday Night Football. Since then, the Broncos have gone 5-1. The Chiefs, who have already had their bye, dropped to 5-1 on Sunday following a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football.

Denver is now set to host the Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile High in Week 8. With a win, the Broncos would improve to 6-2, and Kansas City would drop to 5-2 with a loss.

If that scenario happens, Denver would move ahead of the Chiefs in the AFC West, albeit with one more game played. The Broncos' bye is scheduled for Week 10. If Denver wins next week and the two sides have identical records after the Broncos' bye, the Chiefs would have a tiebreaker division lead over the Broncos with a better division record (3-1 vs. 2-1).

Sunday's game (4:25 p.m. MT) will be regionally televised on CBS, likely across most of the country.
