The Pittsburgh Steelers have been tied to plenty of wide receiver trade rumors over the past week, with NFL insider Jason La Canfora linking the team to New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson. While it may seem like an unrealistic option at first glance, especially with talk that the Jets wouldn't trade Wilson, the rumor does beg the question: What would the Steelers have to give up to acquire him? That's what we at Steelers Wire will do our best to predict.
La Canfora was adamant that a trade involving the former first-round wide receiver remains a possibility. If the Steelers were to strike a deal, it would likely require a first-round pick or a second-round pick and a player sent back to the 2-6 Jets.
WR Garrett Wilson
2028 first-round draft pick
Wilson hasn't played meaningful football since being drafted by the Jets in 2022. He remains an uber-talented receiver, recording 4,171 yards and 21 touchdowns in 66 games, but has been limited by a struggling Jets roster over the past few years.
The Steelers' offense is finally beginning to click on all cylinders, but could use additional wide receiver help. Wilson, although he did have some rough spats with Aaron Rodgers, already has a connection with the veteran Steelers quarterback and could be an immediate impact player for Pittsburgh.
Although some may believe the Jets wouldn't trade Wilson after signing him to a long-term extension in July 2025, the same was said about cornerback Sauce Gardner, but he was dealt by New York just a few months after signing a four-year deal. We at Steelers Wire believe if the Jets received an offer they couldn't refuse, Wilson could be traded, and Pittsburgh could be one of those landing spots.
