The 24-year-old midfielder joined Rangers from Luton in 2024 and showed flashes of his potential. However, he did not consistently turn his ability into decisive performances.
After starring and scoring for Norway at the World Cup, Aasgaard made a last-gasp loan move to Belgium. Anderlecht can buy him for £6million next summer, while he has become an important part of their first team.
The Liverpool-born player was praised by Derek McInnes for cutting short his holiday after Norway’s defeat by England.
Aasgaard then scored against Dundee United, appearing set to play a key role.
Speaking to Anderlecht’s channel, Mr Aasgaard said: “There is so much that attracted me to this club. It is not just the size of the club.
“But the style of play and everything else about it was really attractive to me. And yes, I think I needed a change at this point in my career. And I am really happy to be here.”
Aasgaard will remain at Anderlecht for the rest of the season. His Rangers contract runs until summer 2029.
