WOW. We've got ourselves a bona fide NFL blockbuster of a trade here: Veteran defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons -- a Pro Bowler four times and a first-team All Pro once -- is off to... the Chicago Bears. And when I tell you it was a haul that came back to the Tennessee Titans, I'm not kidding.
It's a signal that the Titans might tank further and accrue more draft capital while building around names like QB Cam Ward and WR Carnell Tate. As for the Bears? This is a sign of moving all in.
So what was the trade? What are the details? And who won or lost this one? As always, let's hand out some grades.
Pardon me while I pick my jaw off the floor. The Bears didn't just make a simple deal here. They dealt a pair of first-round picks -- that's right, TWO OF 'EM -- and a fourth-rounder for a stud defensive tackle. Now, if you're a contender (and I think the Bears count as one), you definitely want a player like Simmons in the middle, stopping the run and rushing opposing QBs. But you're paying a SERIOUS premium, even for a player with Simmons' resume.
The Titans are set at quarterback with Ward. They have a top wideout in Tate. And now? They've got a ton of draft capital to use to continue this rebuild, and maybe there's more coming here ahead of the 2026 trade deadline. The also shed a massive contract with Simmons getting dealt, which is a good move given that the Titans weren't exactly going to contend soon.
