Two sides in good form meet at Anfield as Liverpool welcome Brighton & Hove Albion, with both teams returning to domestic action following European fixtures in midweek.
Andoni Iraola’s side have lost just once so far this campaign despite not being at their best thus far – but can move into the top four of the Premier League with victory.
And they go into the game on the back of a great comeback win to maintain their perfect record in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Despite falling two goals down against Villarreal after half an hour, the Reds were level by half-time courtesy of goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Ronald Araujo.
Mac Allister’s second goal completed the turnaround on 65 minutes, before Florian Wirtz made it 4-2 just two minutes later and while the visitors scored late on, Liverpool held on to edge a seven-goal thriller.
Brighton, meanwhile, have surprised many so far this campaign and will be looking to maintain their great start on Merseyside.
An emphatic 5-0 win over rivals Crystal Palace last Sunday was followed by a frustrating goalless draw at FK Jablonec in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night.
The Seagulls were dominant in Czechia, but without really testing the home keeper in the first half – with Ibrahim Osman’s curling effort going just wide.
Giorginio Rutter then went close twice, but was denied by Jan Hanus before firing an effort inches wide.
Despite recording 26 shots on the night, there was no breakthrough for Fabian Hurzeler’s men, who now travel to Anfield knowing a win would put them within two points of the top two in the Premier League table.
Bradley Barcola is fit to face Brighton, but Liverpool will be without Dominik Szoboszlai whilst Victor Munoz is a doubt.
The summer signing from PSG played the last 16 minutes in the Champions League win in midweek, but despite not taking part in training on Thursday, Iraola confirmed he will be fit for action.
Meanwhile, Szoboszlai and Munoz both sustained injuries during last weekend's win at Brentford and subsequently missed the victory over Villarreal.
Ryan Gravenberch is eligible for selection after serving a one-match suspension in the Premier League, while Liverpool's three long-term absentees – Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni – remain sidelined.
Brighton have a number of injury concerns ahead of their trip to Anfield, and after making a number of changes for their Conference League fixture are expected to name a similar side to that which beat Palace last Sunday.
Pascal Struijk, Mats Wieffer and Yankuba Minteh are nearing returns, but this match comes too soon for Kaoru Mitoma, Femi Azeez and Zadok Yohanna. Stefanos Tzimas and Evan Ferguson continue to be long-term absentees.

Winger Rio Ngumoha produced a Player of the Match performance in the 4-3 win over Villarreal and will be looking to make just his third Premier League start against Brighton.
The 18-year-old, fresh from making two England appearances in the international break, assisted two goals as Reds came from behind to win – his first of the season – and will want to replicate that more regularly moving forwards.
After a goalless draw in midweek, Babis Kostoulas will look to lead a Brighton front line who are the top scorers in the Premier League so far this season.
Kostoulas himself has impressed with three goals and two assists in seven appearances so far this season, and will be looking to add to that tally.
The game is taking place at Anfield on Sunday 25 October 2026..
The game is scheduled for 14.00 GMT.
The match is being broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.
