Mets Linked to Brewers’ 26-HR Breakout Star in Interesting Move
Caleb Williams Lands On Cover Of Madden NFL 27

The New York Mets should be looking to boost their roster in a significant way after their ugly 2026 season.

One clear area that the Mets need to upgrade is at the first base position. They missed star offseason departure Pete Alonso immensely this season, who hit 43 home runs in his first campaign with the Baltimore Orioles this year. As a result, the Mets are now being linked to one of baseball's top first baseman pending free agents.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Jim Bowden named the Mets as the top free agent fit for Milwaukee Brewers breakout star Jake Bauers this offseason.

With the Orioles needing a new first baseman, it makes sense that they are being connected to Bauers. He showed this season with the Brewers that he can make a major impact, and he would be a good player for the Mets to bring in because of it.

In 144 games this season with the Brewers, Bauers posted 26 home runs, 86 RBI, and a .266 batting average. With numbers like these, he would give the Mets some much-needed pop if they landed him. It will be interesting to see if they sign him this offseason because of it.
