Much has been written about the Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL trade rumors around Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts.
While that has unfolded ahead of the NFL trade deadline, we’ve also noted that Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard is another really good option for the Bengals.
But here’s another: New York Jets running back Breece Hall. Hall has been a mainstay in trade rumors, especially with the sudden emergence of Braelon Allen for the 2-6 Jets.
Hall is in the Tony Pollard bucket where he might be a pretty good deal for the Bengals if they can get him in town. He’s still just 25 years old and a former second-round pick who is under contract through at least 2027 with guarantees.
While he’s only appeared in three games this year so far, Hall is the guy who ran for 1,065 yards and four scores on a 4.4 average over 16 games last year while catching 36 passes, too. He’s had minimums of 876 yards and four scores in each of his last three seasons prior to this one. Back in 2023, he ran for 994 and five on a 4.5 average while catching 76 passes.
That’s to say Hall is a pretty overlooked option right now who would pair pretty well with someone like Chase Brown in the Bengals’ backfield.
Teams that miss on Taylor at the trade deadline are going to call up the Jets and ask about Hall’s price. With Brown struggling and no viable depth after Samaje Perine behind him, the Bengals should probably be one of those teams, just in case they like the asking price.
