Whilst Olympique de Marseille have a paper-thin squad following the summer fire sale, Bruno Genesio has made some strong calls with his squad management in recent weeks.
As reported by La Provence, Keyliane Abdallah felt the wrath of the OM manager on Sunday. The academy product came off the bench against Le Havre AC but his entrance, as well as that of Angel Gomes, coincided with Le HAC’s comeback. From 4-0 down, OM had a scare and were left clinging on as they held out for a 4-3 win.
Abdallah was subsequently sent down to the reserves. Faris Moumbagna befell a similar fate earlier this month, RMC Sport understands. His performance off the bench in the loss to Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League incited anger from Genesio. He was sent to the reserves in order to regain his fitness.
Whilst he now continues to train with the first team, the sanction did not sit well with the forward, who has been given a second chance at the club this season.
