Ahead of tonight’s game between AC Milan and Salzburg, Ardon Jashari spoke to the media about his role in the team, tonight’s challenge and the disappointment last time out.
Jashari has struggled to get the playing time he had hoped for at the start of this season, racking up two starts and 165 minutes on the pitch. The Europa League seems to be his competition though, as he started against Benfica and is starting again tonight.
Milan are under quite a lot of pressure to clinch their first win in the competition, following the defeat against Benfica. Finishing in the top eight remains their goal and to do so, they will likely need over 15 points, which also means they likely need to win tonight.
Speaking to Sky Sport just a few minutes ago, as transcribed by MilanNews, Jashari shared his thoughts on the misstep against Sassuolo, his role in the team and what is needed from Milan in tonight’s game.
The Sassuolo game…
“We got a draw, but we should win these kinds of games. We need to improve the mentality after taking the lead. Today is a new day, a new opportunity, and we will try to win.”
With the national team, you are always a starter. At Milan, however, you rotate a lot…
“For me, and for every player, to be at the top you have to play as much as possible. We are rotating a lot these days, but like everyone else, I’m focused on the team’s well-being. But obviously, if you find consistency in your playing time, your performances also improve.”
On Salzburg…
“They are good, otherwise they wouldn’t be playing against us today. But we have to focus on ourselves and think about the match.”
