A football match was abandoned due to a serious injury sustained on the pitch.
Huntly’s women’s team made the journey to Airdrie for their latest SWF League One match on Sunday at Airdrie Leisure Centre.
However, with Airdrie leading 2-0 with less than 20 minutes to go, Huntly player Charley Henderson picked up a bad knee injury.
The defender, whose father Raymond is the team manager, was treated for a suspected knee dislocation.
Airdrie players joined Charley’s Huntly team-mates in showing support during her treatment.
An ambulance was called to take the former Aberdeen player to hospital and the referee called a halt to proceedings after 77 minutes.
Her father said he was unsure of the extent of the knee injury sustained by Charley.
“She has been assessed by our club physiotherapist last night and will be reassessed again later in the week to decide the next steps.
“Unfortunately at the moment we don’t actually know the full extent of the injury although she is currently on crutches and still in a lot of pain.”
