After losing running back RJ Harvey to a knee injury, the Denver Broncos won't have their second-year running back available for at least three more games.
There are a host of running backs Denver could consider on the NFL's trade block ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline, including Jonathan Taylor (27). However, the Broncos might be wise to instead consider a younger, cheaper alternative.
Breece Hall (25) likely won't draw as much as Taylor in a potential trade, and he's owed $13.5 million in 2027 and $14.5 million in 2028. Those numbers would be manageable for Denver.
Earlier this year, Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported that the New York Jets placed a franchise tag on Hall to make sure the Broncos couldn't make Hall an offer New York wouldn't match during free agency. Before the Jets made that decision, the Denver Post reported that Hall would have "plenty of interest" in signing with the Broncos as a free agent.
So it seems clear that there was mutual interest between Hall and Denver this spring, but New York blocked the Broncos. Eight months later, Braelon Allen is playing well, so the Jets might be willing to deal Hall in exchange for extra draft capital. Such a move would make sense for Denver, especially if the potential price tag is lower than Taylor's.
