Bruno Fernandes tipped to leave Manchester United: ‘It’s coming to an end’

Bruno Fernandes has been predicted to leave Man United as part of a dressing room clear-out amid his clash with Michael Carrick.

Fernandes slammed Carrick's tactics last week before liking a social media post in what appeared to be a dig at the manager.

Fernandes has been tipped to leave Man United amid the club's struggles and his clash with manager Carrick

He was dropped for United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, remaining as an unused substitute despite the score.

The Red Devils captain's relationship with the club appears to be fractured, with Carrick on the brink of being sacked too.

So, what's next for Fernandes? Will he work things out at Old Trafford if Carrick goes? Or could he end up leaving the club?

Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda thinks the best thing for both parties is for him to depart in the coming transfer windows.

Fernandes tipped to leave Man United

Sepulveda admitted to Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist on talkSPORT Breakfast: "In my personal opinion, I think it's coming to an end.

"And I really think that's the best for both because I think first of all, Manchester United must organise their own dressing room.

"Even for Bruno Fernandes, I think the best for both is to, let's say, break this relationship, find a solution, because I think that kind of organisation that Man United needs to make a step back, to make two steps forward, starts with cleaning the dressing room.

"I think that a player like Fernandes nowadays, it's better to not be there, even for him, because I think that Fernandes is in a team that is more established, fighting for big things.

"Even for him, it could be much better, because yesterday, for example, it is what it is, but Bruno Fernandes, the position that he had in the Ballon d'Or [27th], for example, it doesn't reflect the player that he is, the numbers that he has.

"And if he plays for another team, I'm sure that Bruno Fernandes easily can be in the top ten players of the world."

Where could Fernandes go if he leaves?

Host Stelling then tipped Fernandes for a move to Saudi, not long after he rejected a £700,000-a-week move in summer 2025.

The idea of a return to his home country was also floated, but Sepulveda can't see either of those moves happening.

He said: "No [I can't see him back in Portugal], at the end of his career yes, but you're talking about a player in his prime.

"You mention Saudi, but what I know from Bruno, his priority will not be Saudi, he is not that kind of player looking for financials.

"If a big club comes with the right project, I think he will prefer to stay in a big club in Europe instead of getting millions."

Is Fernandes the problem?

As well as assessing Fernandes' future at Man United and his next move, Sepulveda also discussed the midfielder's issues.

Fernandes would prefer to stay at a big club in Europe - but will his personality impact interest from those European giants?

He believes that his personality simply doesn't match Man United's current troubles and that he has become a 'problem', with that potentially impacting interest from other big clubs.

"I think the quality of the player is undebatable," Sepulveda said. "I don't think there's one person that will say Fernandes is not an amazing player, probably the best player of Man United.

"The thing is, Bruno is let's say, a special person outside the pitch, he has a huge personality and I think that huge personalities can sometimes be a negative point for him in his career.

"Even in his future, because, to be honest, from the reputation that this kind of midfielder has in the industry, you can look at other clubs that are interested in the transfer of Bruno Fernandes...

"Of course, Man United is a huge team, but the teams that nowadays fight for the Champions League, these teams are not interested in the player [Fernandes] with these kinds of numbers, so this is where there must be a reason for that and I think that reason is his behaviour outside the pitch and in the dressing room.

"Fernandes is that kind of player that if things are positive, if the team is winning, he's a massive contribution to the team.

"But if things are not well, like the way Man United is now, I think sometimes he could be a problem."
