Nets' Mo Wagner loved his move to Brooklyn, per Magic's Franz Wagner

Brooklyn Nets center Mo Wagner has already spoken about his signing with the Nets, but Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner gave his take on the move.

Brooklyn Nets center Mo Wagner chose to sign with the Nets this past offseason as he was looking to begin the next phase of his career in a different role. Wagner could have signed with various teams, but he chose to go to Brooklyn while the franchise is in the midst of its latest rebuild and his brother, Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner, gave his take on his brother's signing.

"He called me. It was bittersweet because he was really happy about his deal in Brooklyn. I knew it was a great situation for him. I know he loves New York, so [it's a] pretty cool moment for him," Franz said of Mo during his interview with House of Magic On Fox. Mo has been the majority of the past six seasons with Franz and the Magic and now, Mo will be looking to play a bigger role with the Nets.

"At the same time, I think we're both a little sad that the time here [in Orlando] has come to an end for him," Franz continued. "So, I think we're both really grateful for the time that we had to play with [each other]. [Playing with your] sibling in the NBA for so many years is super special, and so, we're just grateful for that. He's in a great spot, so I was really happy for him."

Mo, 29, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 42.6% from the field and 31.4% from behind the three-point line in 36 games played. Wagner was impressive for the Nets in the preseason as he averaged 9.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 59.1% from the floor and 40.0% from deep.

Wagner signed with the Nets on a two-year, $19 million deal with the second year being a mutual option, meaning that Wagner could stick around in Brooklyn for next season if he wants to. Since signing with the Nets, Mo has had plenty of positive things to say about the organization, but that doesn't mean that Franz is necessarily happy about not playing with his brother anymore.
