Daniel James says the 49ers deserve credit for being able to bring together a group of great characters at Leeds United in recent summers.
One of the criteria filters in the club’s transfer search is making sure a player is of good character. Squad harmony is something Daniel Farke has made clear he puts above signing an extra player, should it risk the morale and equilibrium.
A number of club sources have testified that the squad is harmonious, and the players themselves have often underlined how much of a tight-knit group they are. Some of the new signings said being on the club’s pre-season tour of the US helped them to settle in.
Leeds spent two weeks together in America, eating, sleeping and of course training in the same environment throughout the trip.

For Tarik Muharemovic, being able to speak the same language as Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach helped while Harry Wilson knew a number of teammates from international duty with Wales.
Wilson and James appeared on Radio X on Thursday morning to discuss the summer and the season, and the latter gave testament to the 49ers for curating a cohesive squad that has so far brought success beyond initial predictions.
He explained: “I think we’ve got a really good group, every year there’s always little changes and I think it’s been easy for the boys to kind of settle in. I think from an owner’s point of view we’ve recruited really well, players who are going to settle in, and characters on and off the pitch.
“Credit to them for doing that. I think we have a great group, we went away to America for two weeks and that really helps people settle in, spending every day together… For Harry having a few of us Wales boys he knows, I think that’s probably helped him to settle in.”
