Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Blackpool: New boss Dave Challinor watches on as Owls survive Sil Swinkels red card

Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 with Blackpool after playing for over half the game with 10 men as new manager Dave Challinor watched from the stands.

Challinor, having been announced as Henrik Pedersen's successor on the morning of the match, saw his new team make a solid start at Hillsborough as Davis Keillor-Dunn put them ahead in the 25th minute.

Keillor-Dunn pounced on a misplaced pass and ran from the centre circle unchallenged before firing a low shot which went inside Bailey Peacock-Farrell's right-hand post.

The hosts found themselves a man down five minutes before the interval, however, when Sil Swinkels was shown a straight red card after bundling over Tom Bloxham as the forward looked set to go through on goal.

Keillor-Dunn went close to scoring a second goal when his long-range effort forced a good save from Peacock-Farrell.

Then Blackpool substitute Jerry Yates, like Peacock-Farrell a former Wednesday loanee, equalised, poking the ball past Ashley Maynard-Brewer in the 81st minute following Albie Morgan's cross.

Mason Burstow had one last chance to restore the Owls' lead when he produced an audacious chip from distance, but Peacock-Farrell managed to claw it away.
