Tribute at start of presser to Ken Friar

"Before we start, I would like to say a few words about Ken Friar, our life president. It's a really sad day for everybody that loves Arsenal Football Club or anybody that loves football or anybody has come across to him. I had the privilege, the honour to meet him, to spend time with him, to learn from him.

"And there are people in football clubs that they have a role and they fulfil a role. And there are other people that they create an identity, they create values and they have a vision to create a future for the football club. And I think the legacy that Ken is going to leave to all of us, to our football club and everybody that has been close to him is going to be forever. I want to pass on all our love to his relatives, his family, just so they know that the way we feel about him, he cannot be anything but extraordinary. That's it."

Performance, particularly in the second half, could have been a tribute to him?

"I'm sure he is very happy to see how the boys played, the way we won the victories for him. But not only that, because I know how proud he feels about what we built, and especially the group of players that we have."

All three of your subs from triple change were involved in third goal?

"Well, we had moments in the game in the first half, especially in certain moments that we arrived to very dangerous positions. With a lot of advantage, our technical quality wasn't good enough to deliver moments of real threat and especially to be able to sustain the attack, so we allowed certain transitions.

"The moment we made a change at half-time in terms of certain positions, the technical level increased and we attacked the spaces where we thought we could help them. It was a joy to watch. The three goals were unbelievable, the connections, the timings, the quality they delivered to score. Three different players and a lot of players participating in those goals, so overall very, very happy."

Second game where a triple change was ready to go then you scored?

"I'm going to do that more now."

But in that moment when you then scored, do you ever think, well maybe I'll wait, but you've gone through it both times?

"No, I felt it, I felt it, that it was the right moment to do it. The way the game was panning out, the way the opponent was behaving as well, that we needed in those moments, those spaces, different kinds of players and that's it. But that's credit to the starters and the ones that come in to create those moments."

Is it about momentum as well?

"Yes, it is."

You've scored quite a few goals this season at the end of long passing moves. What's the reason behind that, chemistry between the players?

"Well, certainly, first of all, it depends on how opponents behave, because if opponents behave in a really different way, the sequences of passes will be very, very short and you don't have these kinds of moments.

"Because it's something that we've been trying a lot, because it's a phase that now we are obviously facing a lot. And because we have players that are evolving, their understanding is better, the level of chemistry that we have generated is better. And we need that, because we cannot rely on other aspects. So when other aspects are not working, we need to make sure that we have a variety of tools to win football matches."

Any update on Zubi and Hincapie?

"Zubi is much, much better. Piero is improving, but as I said, he looks more significant. I think it will be a matter of weeks, I think. We don't know exactly how many. Zubi is improving. Zubi is improving, yes. We have to see the moment he goes on that pitch, how he deals with the pain and still some small feelings that he will have, basically."

Lewis-Skelly, back to left-back and starred? Got love from your coaches as he left pitch?

"He always gets love from the coaches! They are so good at that. He deserves massive credit, because as you said, changing position is not only just what you have to deliver tactically, as well as the physical element of that and the kind of efforts that you have to make.

"But I think he was brilliant. I think the way he competed, the way he carried himself, he was very, very consistent, except for one action in the game. And that's what we need. Myles at this level, he's a player with a huge impact on the team."

Bayern next week, Olise suspended?

"Yeah, I think the beautiful challenge is going to be against Forest away and we need to make sure we are ready for that one."

Michael Olise

Another goal and assist for Bukayo coming off the bench. Was that him responding to your challenge of two or three goals a game in his career?

"I don't know if that's the case. I'm very happy and welcome. He wasn't feeling that good yesterday and today because he had a sort of illness. He wasn't ready to start, but he really was keen to contribute to the team. If it was needed, he came on. He made a huge impact and he delivered with real quality."

14 consecutive wins in the group phase of this competition. Impressive?

"Well it shows the level of consistency that we have. We carry on playing the way we do and performing at that level in the competition. I'm sure we can do that more, but you have to earn it because the level is big."

Madueke, is his end product frustrating?

"I said when you talk about players being clinical. And what is clinical? Clinical sometimes means that they score five every hundred, you know. So, yeah, it's about generating volume and more actions and getting him into the good position because he will decide matches. He had a really big contribution a few days ago. Today he had a contribution in the last final pass as well. And that's it. We need to get the players to that level, to be decisive in every game if possible."

On Saka, what do you sense from those conversations with him about his mindset?

"After the press conference, I went and he was on the massage table and I said, Bukayo, 'I just killed you in the press conference. Good luck tomorrow'. He was laughing. He knows me. He takes it because he wants to be the best version of himself. Big objective and challenges, we try to risk them by working and being consistent and when it doesn't keep going as he has the ability to do it."
