No. 17 Texas A&M volleyball has found an offensive spark during its four-match winning streak, with senior setter Margot Manning playing a significant role in the Aggies' recent success.
Manning followed consecutive career-high performances against Georgia and Kentucky with another career night Friday, recording 48 assists and 16 digs in Texas A&M's four-set victory over No. 6 Tennessee. As Kay Naegeli of TexAgs first highlighted, the Aggies' offensive production has surged since head coach Jamie Morrison inserted Manning during the second set against Georgia on October 23.
According to Naegeli's analysis, Texas A&M won eight of the next 10 sets while hitting .407 on attacks set by Manning. The stretch included victories over Georgia, No. 4 Kentucky and Tennessee.
Manning recorded 29 assists against Georgia before establishing a career high with 36 against Kentucky. She surpassed that mark Friday with 48 assists as Texas A&M secured consecutive top-10 regular-season victories for the first time in program history. The senior also contributed 16 digs and two aces against Tennessee, recording her second double-double of the season. Her performance helped the Aggies overcome a 23-19 fourth-set deficit, scoring six unanswered points to secure the victory.
Manning's emergence has coincided with improved production from Texas A&M's attackers. Kyndal Stowers recorded 19 kills against Tennessee, while Natalie Ring added 18 kills on .357 shooting. The Aggies have now won four consecutive matches after dropping three straight SEC contests earlier this month.
Texas A&M travels to Austin Sunday to face No. 14 Texas in the Lone Star Showdown. First serve is scheduled for noon CT at Gregory Gymnasium, and the match will be televised nationally on ABC.
