Texas A&M remains outside the AP Poll Top 25 after defeating The Citadel 41-0 on Saturday afternoon at Kyle Field.
The Aggies improved to 4-3 and recorded their second shutout of the season. A&M finished with 501 total yards, rushed for 264 and gave several younger players extended opportunities after building a 27-0 halftime lead. Marcel Reed and Brady Hart each threw a touchdown, while the defense limited The Citadel to 183 yards.
Beating an FCS opponent wasn't enough to move A&M back into the rankings after its 3-3 start, but the win gave Mike Elko’s team a chance to reset before returning to SEC play. The Aggies will have opportunities to improve their resume, with three ranked opponents still remaining on the schedule.
Those teams experienced significant movement following Saturday’s results. Tennessee climbed to No. 11 after beating Alabama, while the Crimson Tide fell seven spots to No. 13. Texas dropped 12 places to No. 19 after losing to Florida. A&M will face all three during the second half of the season.
Miami moved into the top spot for the first time since 2002, while BYU climbed six places to No. 2 after defeating Notre Dame. Every position in the Top 25 changed after five of the top seven teams lost during one of the most chaotic weekends in college football history.
