The Golden State Valkyries’ home support is the stuff of legends, and head coach Natalie Nakase has outlined her expectations from them during the WNBA Finals.

In just their second season as a franchise, the Golden State Valkyries are already challenging for their first ever WNBA title. Led by Gabby Williams, the team has shown they are a very talented and exceptionally well-coached group. The Valks have another ace up their sleeve, too.

Golden State plays their home game at the Chase Center, and their popularity in San Francisco is through the roof. The team is incredibly popular, their fans have helped them become the first women’s team to reach the $100 million in revenue mark. They are also very passionate and loud fans, so with the biggest series in franchise history coming up, the head coach is ready to see them show out.

Natalie Nakase says ‘Ballhalla’ has to be preparing a great gameplan for the WNBA Finals

For the uninitiated, ‘Ballhalla’ is what the Chase Center is referred to as during Valkyries home games. An obvious homage to Norse mythology’s afterlife, it fits with the team name quite well. It’s also an apt description for the high-intensity environment that those fans are capable of creating.

The Valkyries faithful don’t need any extra motivation to bring their ‘A-game’ for the Finals, but Natalie Nakase has let them know of what is expected nonetheless.

“You guys know, since we’re prepping for a great gameplan, Ballhalla better be prepping a gameplan,” the head coach said. “As soon as they’re announced, I need some hostility. As soon as, if they do challenge, I need some hostility. If they shoot free throws, I need that game to be rocking.

“So, gameplan, Ballhalla. Get ready, get prepped. Because we definitely need to use Ballhalla as our sixth man.”

It is evident how much faith the coach has in the fans and their ability to influence the game. If the team is able to get the arena involved, the Dream will have an exceptionally hard time handling the Valkyries. The atmosphere alone is going to make the first two games of the WNBA Finals absolutely electric.
