Panthers waive rookie from active roster on Tuesday

The Carolina Panthers have just opened up a spot.

As announced on Tuesday, offensive tackle Albert Reese IV has been waived from the active roster. The 24-year-old rookie was a healthy scratch in each of Carolina's first five games of the 2026 campaign.

Reese, a standout at Mississippi State University from 2021 to 2025, joined the Panthers as an undrafted free agent this past spring. After an impressive summer, where he appeared in all four preseason contests at right tackle, Reese made the cut for the team's initial 53-man roster.

But, in an addition that might've made Reese expendable, longtime starting right tackle Taylor Moton returned to the lineup in the Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Plus, first-round pick Monroe Freeling is also working back from a knee injury.

A corresponding move has not been made, which could allow the Panthers to activate a player from injured reserve. Those that are eligible to rejoin the active roster include versatile offensive lineman Brady Christensen, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
