The Atlanta Falcons were thoroughly outmatched by the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday's 34-17 loss in Madrid, Spain. While the Falcons offense bounced back from an abysmal performance last week, the defense had no answers for Joe Burrow and the Bengals' high-octane passing attack.
Burrow dropped 24 points on Atlanta in the first half alone, and Cincinnati didn't punt until the third quarter. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase put up a career-high 147 receiving yards in the first half. He finished with 10 total catches for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Aside from the defensive struggles, the Falcons played arguably their sloppiest game yet from a penalty standpoint. Multiple promising drives were killed by penalties as the team racked up 12 for 88 total yards. Kicker Nick Folk also missed a field goal as his struggles continued.
The Bengals were favored for a reason, but fans were hoping the Falcons would show a little more backbone in Sunday's 17-point loss. Here's how NFL fans reacted to Atlanta's sloppy loss to the Bengals in Madrid.
The Falcons will have another big test next week against the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
