Noni Madueke, who was arguably Arsenal’s most positive attacker today, unleashed a fierce strike after cutting in from the left wing, and the ball deflected into the back of the net. That goal was enough to seal the game.

‘One-nil to the Arsenal’ is one of the most famous chants in football.

Graham’s success as Gunners boss was laid on a foundation of discipline and structure back in the day, and that attracted a lot of criticism from rival fans.

‘Boring, boring Arsenal’ was sung every time they played, mocking Graham’s style and philosophy. Instead of being annoyed, Gooners embraced it.

That was turned into ‘one-nil to the Arsenal‘, a song that’s popular even to this day. The away fans at the City Ground sang their hearts out after Madueke’s winner.

Arsenal haven’t been involved in too many 1-0 wins for that song to be brought back, but they have won a lot of games by a single-goal margin.

We’re sure rival fans will use that as a stick to beat Arsenal with, but as long as the Gunners keep winning, Arteta and the players are unlikely to care.
