With less than a week until the trade deadline, the Chargers face a crucial decision: dismantle their roster or continue with their current group.
Many believe Los Angeles should capitalize on the trade value of several players and begin building toward the future. However, the front office doesn't appear to share that sentiment.
According to ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes, the Chargers aren't trading anyone, and she is baffled by their decision to do nothing.
"I have been told that the Chargers are not trading anyone," Kimes said.
"What the hell are you doing? What world are you living in where you're turning down trade offers? This version of the team is over. You have to start thinking about 2027; that's absurd if that's true."
All signs point to Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz standing pat ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline. Hortiz has shown little to no interest in trading away veteran talent despite the team's 0-7 start.
Earlier in the week, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about his team's position on a potential trade. He said the front office owns that decision.
"I'm focused on the Texans. I know Joe, Chad, the organization will always look to improve the team," Harbaugh said.
As Kimes said, this version of the Chargers team is over. They have shown little to no signs of turning this season around, and they've been a tough watch.
The Chargers' offense is among the worst in the league, and while their defense has improved throughout the season, there's only so much they can do.
The bye week did the team no favors, and if no changes are made, they could end up with the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
