New Zealand have made several changes to their squad for the remaining T20Is against India as part of a planned workload management strategy. The hosts, led by Mitchell Santner, are trailing 2-0 in the five-match series after their four-wicket defeat in the second T20I in Christchurch.

The team will manage its fast bowlers ahead of a busy schedule featuring five ODIs and two Tests against India, followed by a four-match Test tour of Australia. New Zealand had also suffered injury setbacks before the series, with Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman and William O'Rourke ruled out of different stages of the tour.

Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson to Miss Third T20I Against India

According to New Zealand Cricket's official statement, Matt Henry will miss the final three T20Is after leaving the field during the second match with a tight calf. The fast bowler delivered only two overs before the issue emerged, and captain Mitchell Santner confirmed the concern.

Henry will remain in Christchurch before joining the New Zealand ODI squad in Auckland on November 2, ahead of the first match on November 4.

Lockie Ferguson will also miss the third T20I in Wellington after leaving the field as a precaution during the previous match. He will travel to Auckland and rejoin the squad for the fourth and fifth T20Is, scheduled for October 30 and November 1 in Auckland and Hamilton, respectively.

"Lockie Ferguson will depart to Auckland today and re-join the squad for the final two T20Is at Eden Park and Seddon Park respectively. Matt Henry will remain in Christchurch and assemble with the ODI squad on November 2 in Auckland," the statement read.

Kyle Jamieson to Play Ford Trophy Match Before ODI Series

Kyle Jamieson, who did not feature in the first two T20Is, will travel to Wellington for the third match. He will remain there afterwards to represent Canterbury in the second round of the Ford Trophy against Wellington at the Cello Basin Reserve on October 31.

Jamieson will then rejoin the national squad for the ODI series against India. The domestic fixture will give him an opportunity to build match fitness before returning to international action.

"Kyle Jamieson will remain in Wellington following the third T20I on Tuesday and be available for Canterbury’s second round of Ford Trophy at the Cello Basin Reserve on October 31, before also returning to the BLACKCAPS for the ODI series," the statement mentioned.

Blair Tickner, Josh Clarkson and Matt Fisher Join New Zealand Squad

Blair Tickner will join the T20I squad in Wellington for the final three matches, while Josh Clarkson will link up with the team in Auckland for the last two games. Both players were initially named as replacements for Zak Foulkes and Mark Chapman, who were ruled out through injuries.

Matt Fisher will travel with the squad to Wellington as cover for the third T20I only. He will then return to the New Zealand A squad at Lincoln University ahead of its second four-day fixture against India A.

"Blair Tickner will join the T20I squad in Wellington for games 3-5, while fellow Central Stag Josh Clarkson is set to join the squad in Auckland for T20Is 4 and 5. Matt Fisher will travel with the squad to Wellington as cover for the third T20I only and is set to return to the New Zealand A squad at Lincoln University on Wednesday," the statement added.

Head coach Rob Walter said the team had enough depth to rotate its pace attack while preparing for the upcoming fixtures.

"We're very fortunate with the depth in the squad to be able to call upon different players to help manage our pacers' workloads, and to try and ensure they are best placed to perform for the team for all the cricket coming up," Walter said.
