LeBron James interacted with fans at Madison Square Garden
The 76ers star was seen exchanging words with at least one fan, according to social media footage
At another point in the game, James heard it from the crowd while he was at the free-throw line
LeBron James appeared to give a fan an earful in the season-opener against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The Philadelphia 76ers star, 41, was seen interacting with at least one member of the crowd at Madison Square Garden during the second quarter.
“Ain’t nothing soft in the Midwest,” James appeared to say, according to clips of the tiff. “I don’t know what the f--- you talking about.”
He continued, “I’m not from the West Coast. I’m from Ohio. Baby, f--- is you talking about?!”
NBC’s Mike Tirico seemed to have intel on the exchange, claiming that fans may have been taunting James over his helicopter commute from his home in New York City to Philly.

At another point in the game, the former Lakers star got his own earful when he took to the free-throw line.
In footage circulating on social media, fans chanted “We don’t want you.” The chirps appear to stem from remarks previously made by the NBA veteran, who contemplated joining the Knicks as a free agent.
James signed a two-year, $8 million contract with Philadelphia over the summer after eight years with the Lakers. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer told ESPN last month that he once envisioned wrapping his storied NBA career in New York.
James and the 76ers, however, got the last laugh Tuesday, spoiling the home team’s celebratory night — when Knicks players received their rings and unfurled the championship banner — with a 106-100 win.
All of which had the NBA legend feeling generous in his comments after his regular-season debut for Philly.
“It is a great night for New York fans, 50-plus years. I was a part of that at one point where we hadn’t won a major championship in Cleveland in over 50 years,” James told reporters. “The fans will never forget this moment, and will never forget that championship run. We’re happy just to be able to come and play on such a historical night in a historical building and play the game we love.”
