Matthias Jaissle Everton press conference key points here ahead of cup match

The Matthias Jaissle Everton press conference has taken place on Tuesday.

This is ahead of the Newcastle United match on Thursday, a 7.45pm kick-off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Newcastle United looking to follow up Sunday’s Premier League victory at Crystal Palace.

As well as of course hoping to progress to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The Head Coach speaking to the media.

Matthias Jaissle on team selection, with United facing Everton in the Premier League four days after this cup encounter:

“Due to the history for the club in that competition, I have the same approach, to play with the best possible line-up. We are getting huge support again in an away match. It is really special, during the week, that we will have 8,000 fans with us, taking the journey to support us. It shows the importance about that competition and we will also be aligned with that and go all in. The fans have huge expectations and they have that taste now with winning the competition.”

Matthias Jaissle on the appointment of Tomás Amaral as the club’s new Head of First Team Recruitment:

“It is always good to improve things and Ross [Wilson] is the responsible guy and leading that department. It’s always good for experts to have fresh energy and we’re looking forward to working together. Like it was in the last couple of days in the [summer] transfer window, it is a pure and clear alignment between everyone involved. As a coach, you thrive for high expectations when it comes to signings.”

Matthias Jaissle on Sunday’s win against Crystal Palace:

“We were doing the simple things a bit better in the second half. We emphasised, like always at half-time, the potential and what we can improve in our game. We had a more offensive mindset after ball wins and improved in possession with our structure. Now, it’s time to build on that. We have shown a solid performance and deserved that win.”

Matthias Jaissle on last night’s NUFC Under-21s win over Sunderland at St. James’ Park, winning 3-2 after having trailed 0-1 and 1-2:

“It was nice. First of all, I’m happy for the young lads getting the opportunity to feel and taste a little bit of that atmosphere. It should give them that vision of where they want to be in the future, playing in a full stadium. They did a great job.”

Matthias Jaissle asked about the availability of Lewis Miley and Matias Fernandez-Pardo for the Everton Cup match after missing the win at Crystal Palace:

“These two players are still doubtful…Question marks on if they can make it for Thursday night. We need to see step-by-step over the next two days to decide if they are able to be in the squad or not. With both of them we don’t want to take any additional risk and hopefully, they are getting back soon.”

Matthias Jaissle also asked for an update on Tino Livramento:

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him…also the medical department. That is usually my approach when it comes to injuries. I can just assure you that I see him every day with a great professionalism in his rehab, hard working, so hopefully we have him back soon and that he is stable in his approach when he is joining us.”
