Former Washington WBB Star Shines in EuroCup Debut Win For Gorzów

Former Washington Huskies women's basketball starter Elle Ladine had a strong regular season debut for AJP Gorzów in Poland to start her pro career.

Former Washington Huskies women's basketball star Elle Ladine helped guide AZS AJP Gorzów Wielkopolski to an 87-63 victory Thursday over Panserraikos to open the 2026-27 EuroCup in Poland.

Ladine scored the first two points of the game and filled up the stat sheet to finish with 13 points (5-of-15 shooting), 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal in her regular season debut. The ex-Husky sharpshooter played a team-high 25 minutes, 34 seconds against Panserraikos, a sign of more extended playing time to come as the season progresses.

Over her four-year UW career, the San Francisco, California native made 88 starts and 123 total appearances for the Pac-12-turned-Big Ten program. Ladine, who ranks No. 8 all-time in school history with 220 made 3-pointers, hasn't lost her touch from behind the arc despite her move over the Atlantic.

After Ladine pulled up from midrange to open her scoring account, the former All-Big Ten Second Team selection in 2024-25 knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second and third quarters, the latter of which gave Gorzów's a 67-37 lead with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter.

Ladine received a training camp invite back in April with the WNBA's Seattle Storm; however, she was released by the team less than a month later, which led to her decision to look to Europe to kick-start her professional basketball career.

"A young, talented player from the USA who will bring a lot of energy and potential to the team," Gorzów women's coach Dariusz Maciejewski said of Ladine when the team signed her in August.

Over the past two months in the lead-up to Gorzów's 2026-27 season, Ladine has become a constant face to market the team on various social media platforms. One of four American players on Gorzów's roster, along with Taina Mair, Stephanie Jones, and Courtney Hurt, Ladine acknowledged in a preseason press conference that she isn't the first in her family to trek halfway across the world to pursue her dream.

"I have, on my mom's side, my grandma and grandpa are immigrants from France's Basque country," Ladine said on September 26. "So, I have some cousins out there. I actually have never met them. I've never been to France, but I'm a French citizen. Just two families."
