No. 19 Texas A&M volleyball returned to Reed Arena looking to end its two-match losing streak, but its mistakes made that difficult against No. 7 Florida.
The Aggies committed 31 attacking errors and 11 service errors during a four-set loss to the Gators on Friday night. Florida won 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 and 25-16, handing A&M its third consecutive defeat. Texas A&M dropped to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in SEC play, while Florida improved to 14-2 and 5-1.
A&M struggled offensively throughout the opening set before responding in the second. The Aggies hit .293 and produced 19 kills, holding off the Gators to even the match at one set apiece.
Florida regained control after the break. Texas A&M hit .000 during the third set and .062 in the fourth, allowing the Gators to pull away despite recording fewer kills for the match. A&M finished with a 48-44 kill advantage but hit only .112 overall.
Stowers recorded her sixth double-double of the season and reached double-digit kills for the fourth consecutive match. Musgrove added a double-double, while Sharp continued working her way back into the rotation.
The Aggies finished with 11 blocks and held Florida to a .186 hitting percentage. However, the defense could not overcome the points A&M gave up through attacking and service errors.
Texas A&M will remain at Reed Arena and attempt to end its losing streak against Auburn on Sunday at noon CT.
