Mohun Bagan Super Giant will look to capitalise on home advantage when it hosts an in-form Punjab FC in a crucial Indian Super League fixture at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Separated by just a point, both sides have plenty to play for: Punjab has seven points from three matches while Bagan has six points off three games.

Punjab arrives unbeaten and buoyed by a thrilling 3-2 away win over Churchill Brothers, which was sealed by Sanathoi Singh’s dramatic stoppage-time goal.

On the other hand, Bagan will seek to build on its hard-earned 1-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC at this venue. Manvir Singh’s 85th-minute strike secured all three points, providing a timely fillip to the Mariners after an early-season setback.

The contest also renews a recent rivalry. The sides met in the IFA Shield semifinal earlier this month, playing out a goalless draw in 120 minutes before Bagan prevailed in a penalty shootout. The Mariners also enjoy a commanding record over the Shers in the ISL, having won all five previous meetings, including a 3-2 win in April.

Punjab will be determined to end that run and underline its credentials as a genuine title contender while Bagan will be eager to extend its dominance.
