The versatile defender was withdrawn at half-time during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox. Kosta Nedeljkovic replaced him for the second half.
Rangers manager Derek McInnes later said Sterling had been struggling with illness. He had been dealing with suspected tonsillitis, rather than a muscular injury.
According to the Scottish Sun, Sterling is recovering well and is expected to be fit for Saturday night’s Premiership match at Dens Park.

His availability would help McInnes, with Sterling among Rangers’ most reliable performers this season. The 26-year-old has missed only one game in the current campaign.
He has started each of Rangers’ last five matches in which they did not concede while he was on the pitch. That run includes both Old Firm wins over Celtic, with Sterling playing every minute of those games.
His fitness record is also welcome after an injury-hit 2025/26 campaign limited him to 17 appearances in all competitions.
Victory over Dundee would return Rangers to top spot in the Premiership, at least temporarily, before Celtic host Hearts at Parkhead on Sunday.
