Bills' Joe Brady on rookie Davison Igbinosun 'stickiness'

Buffalo head coach Joe Brady singled out rookie cornerback Davison Igbinosun after Sunday's 33-30 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

While Josh Allen, Keon Coleman, and James Cook drew headlines, Brady made sure to highlight the rookie's coverage work during his postgame press conference.

"We were a little matchier today in coverage, and the stickiness kind of showed, and that's what IGB kind of does," Brady said. "And what I love about IGB is he just keeps playing, and they might take a shot, and he's going to go right back at it with the same mindset."

"He has a short memory, and so he's continuing to grow game in game out and us getting a feel for what's best for him, but one thing I know is he competes every damn play, and that's exactly what we're looking for," the Bills coach added.

Igbinosun finished with three pass deflections and two tackles — one solo, one assisted. He also broke up three passes in a game for the first time this season, his first as a defensive starter ahead of Maxwell Hairston.

The afternoon was not spotless. He was flagged for an 11-yard pass interference penalty in the first quarter and a five-yard defensive holding penalty in the second. Still, his performance was still an encouraging sign for a Buffalo secondary that has struggled in their start to the season.

Igbinosun, the No. 62 overall pick in April's draft out of Ohio State, has become a regular in Buffalo's cornerback rotation as a rookie. And he feels up to the challenge.

"I've always been kind of overlooked or have to come in and prove myself. When I got to Ole Miss as a freshman from New Jersey, I had to prove myself. Earn my playing time. When I got to Ohio State, same situation. There were guys already in the room. Competed and proved myself. And in the NFL, I'm doing the same thing. So I feel everything in my past has prepared me for these opportunities," Igbinosun said. to WGRZ this past week.

Brady's comments suggest the trust is growing, and the rookie gave the Bills' secondary the boost it needed when the defense needed one.

Buffalo (5-1) heads into its bye week next, then hosts the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 1.
