'Time To Have Some Talks,' 'Worst Offensive Big Man of All Time' -- NBA Fans Pile On Rudy Gobert After Another Brutal Shooting Night vs. Warriors

The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered another frustrating loss on Wednesday, falling 119-114 to the Golden State Warriors at Target Center.

But the result wasn’t the only concern for Minnesota, as their veteran big man, Rudy Gobert, endured a night he’d rather forget. NBA fans wasted little time weighing in, and some of their reactions were particularly brutal.

NBA Fans Torch Rudy Gobert After 0-for-4 Shooting Disaster vs. Warriors

Gobert finished with just one point on 0-for-4 shooting and posted a minus-11 plus-minus rating. The performance extended his shooting drought to 0-for-13 across his last two games, raising fresh questions about his ability to contribute consistently on offense.

One NBA fan captured the growing frustration with a blunt reaction, writing, “Okay, it’s time to have some talks.”

Another fan questioned how quickly the center’s production had declined, posting, “I didn’t think he’d be washed this soon.”

The criticism became even harsher when one fan declared, “Maybe the worst offensive big man of all time I wish I was kidding.”

Another offered a shorter verdict, calling Gobert “A literal offensive liability.”

NBACentral highlighted another troubling statistic before the game, reporting, “Rudy Gobert is shooting 23.1% on layups this season, per @bball_ref.”

Content creator Wilder Adams also took a dig at Gobert’s current form, adding, “Rudy playing with no edge right now. It seems like whenever he plays exhibition basketball in the offseason, his game regresses. I was upset about it, and I’m probably more worried about Rudy than any active player on the roster right now.”

Gobert’s teammates also appeared frustrated with his struggles, as NBACentral shared a clip showing Jonathan Kuminga and LaMelo Ball in heated conversation with the 7-foot-1 center during a timeout.

Gobert, a former first-round pick, joined Minnesota in July 2022 after a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz. Currently playing under a three-year, $109.5 million contract, his early offensive production this season has fallen short of expectations, as he’s averaging 6.6 points per game while shooting 37% from the field so far.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch acknowledged that the team needs to put the center in better positions to score, though he also expected Gobert to convert more of his opportunities.

“We got to find him a little more cleanly, we’ve not been able to do that,” Finch said. “He’s got to catch and finish better, he had 16 chances in and around the paint in the Cleveland game, didn’t finish well. I think he’s got to get back and play with a little bit more force down there and we have to find him a little cleaner at times.”

Gobert’s offensive concerns have become more pressing with Anthony Edwards out of the lineup. Wednesday marked the team’s first game without its star guard, who is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss two months.

The Timberwolves have now lost two straight games and hold a 3-2 record. Gobert is not expected to replace Edwards’ scoring, but Minnesota will need more reliable production from its center as the team adjusts to the loss of its leading star.

The Timberwolves return to action Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers, giving him another opportunity to respond to the criticism and help Minnesota get back on track
