Pedro Porro says he is nearing a return to action, in a massive boost for Tottenham and head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
The right-back was able to use the extended international window and fly to Spain to see a specialist to aid his recovery from a hamstring injury.
While the World Cup winner remained at Hotspur way during the aforementioned international break, De Zerbi confirmed the trip to Old Trafford came too soon for Porro to be involved.
“Pedro and [Mykhailo] Mudryk are both not available,” he said.
“Pedro - I think - not for many games, and for Mudryk, something more."
However, it would appear that decision to see a specialist has paid off as Porro took to social media on Friday to deliver an encouraging update regarding his rehabilitation.
Posting a video clip of him jumping onto a plyometric box from a seated position, early suggestions are the Spaniard’s hamstrings are fully healed.
Furthermore, the two-word message of “almost back” could mean he will be in contention for a place in the Spurs matchday squad against Coventry on Monday night.
De Zerbi is expected to provide a further update on Porro in the press conference on Sunday morning, after the team have returned from their warm-weather training camp in Marbella.
The unusual timing also means Spurs supporters have to remain patient to discover if Dejan Kulusevski can feature too.
Kulusevski is closing in on a return to action after nearly a year-and-a-half out with a complicated kneecap injury.
The Swedish playmaker travelled with the rest of the Spurs squad to Old Trafford but was not included in the matchday squad.
