FIFA is reportedly considering scrapping its controversial Peace Prize just a year after Donald Trump received the inaugural award from president Gianni Infantino, casting doubt over the future of the honour.
Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize ahead of the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington in December 2025, despite the award not being approved by the FIFA Council.
At a meeting in Zurich on Thursday, council members tasked FIFA’s football social responsibility committee with reviewing the merits of the prize, which was intended to be awarded annually. The meeting also saw Infantino face scrutiny over his plans for World Cup ticket pricing, which had attracted significant backlash.
