Jeremiah Smith made his presence felt early in the fourth quarter against Indiana with a 38-yard touchdown reception. Smith's 39th career touchdown adds his name to yet another record.
Facing 4th & 1 at the Indiana 38-yard line, Ohio State decided to take a shot at the end zone. Quarterback Julian Sayin stepped up in the pocket and launched a 38-yard jump ball into the end zone for Smith. The Heisman favorite showed off why he is the best player in the country, snatching the ball away from two Hoosier defenders. Smith's big touchdown catch tied him for the career Big Ten receiving touchdown record with former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards.
Smith continues to add to his historic career in Columbus. The star wide receiver has already broken the Ohio State record for career receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Smith now begins to cement his name into the Big Ten record books.
Along with tying the Big Ten career receiving touchdown record, Smith moved into third place on the Big Ten career receiving yards list passing Edwards. Smith's 68 yards against Indiana brings his career total to 3,542. He now only needs 77 more yards to pass John Standeford for the most career yards in Big Ten history.
