‘I’m Beyond Being Upset and Angry’ — Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin Raises Major ‘Concern’ About Dallas After Devastating Loss to Packers

The Dallas Cowboys fell to 2-4 with a 23-13 Sunday Night Football loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6, dropping two games below .500 after another uneven performance highlighted by a sputtering offense.

The 2026 Cowboys are the 16th team in franchise history to have two or fewer wins through the first six games of a season. None of the previous 15 made the playoffs, and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin addressed the loss Monday morning, saying major changes are incoming if the losses keep piling up.

Michael Irvin Warns Cowboys Primetime Losses Will Put People in the Hot Seat Under Jerry Jones

Dak Prescott completed 34 of 54 passes for 258 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions on Sunday night, taking one sack and seven quarterback hits behind an offensive line that struggled against Green Bay’s pressure.

Javonte Williams carried 11 times for 41 yards and a touchdown but did not get another carry after the third quarter, with Dallas abandoning the run as the game got away from them. The defense allowed Green Bay to convert 11 of 18 third-down attempts, including nine of the first ten in the first half alone.

Cowboys great Michael Irvin spoke during a segment on “First Take” on Monday, saying the string of primetime losses has taken him past frustration and into serious concern about the franchise’s direction.

“I’m beyond being upset and angry at the Cowboys. I’m now concerned. There’s no way you’re going to lose the last three primetime games,” Irvin said.

He then shared his take on what the continued losses mean for the people around Jones and who might face consequences because of them.

“There’s no way you’re going to lose three primetime games this year, the last five primetime games over the last couple of years, and Jerry Jones, who loves to sell the Dallas Cowboys, is going to sit back. So I’m worried about now some of my friends and who’s in the hot seat or who’s going to be moved around, because I know what we see with the Dallas Cowboys cannot continue,” he said.

The defense allowed 276 passing yards and a touchdown on Sunday and was fortunate the drops from wide receivers Matthew Golden and Christian Watson kept the damage from being worse.

Dallas ranks sixth in PFN’s NFL Offense Impact Metric with a grade of 80.4 and 31st in PFN’s NFL Defense Impact Metric at 69.0, with the pass defense sitting dead last at 32nd in the league through the 2026 season.

Green Bay entered Week 6 with the worst rushing attack in the league, and the Cowboys held them to 57 yards on 26 carries, but a defense that can only stop the run against the weakest rushing teams has not provided any real cause for confidence.

The Cowboys travel to Philadelphia for Monday Night Football on Oct. 26 at Lincoln Financial Field. Hopefully, they will snap their two-game losing streak against the Eagles, who will be without Jalen Hurts.
