OFFICIAL: EF Education-EasyPost blow as in-form versatile Danish rider's transfer to Jayco AlUla confirmed
Mikkel Honoré

Mikkel Honoré has officially joined Team Jayco AlUla, leaving EF Education-EasyPost after four seasons with the American team. A versatile all-rounder, the Danish rider had been in strong form in the final weeks of this season.

The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Australian team, and brings eight years of WorldTour experience to the team's roster after previously riding with Soudal-Quick Step for four seasons.

An all-rounder who can challenge in hilly races and one-day classics, Honoré endured a difficult beginning to the 2026 season after a crash which saw him spend time in intensive care. He suffered injuries including broken ribs, a broken collarbone and fractured vertebrae.

Honoré bounced back, particularly in September and early October with a third place at the Memorial Marco Pantani and second place on the final stage of the Tour of Luxembourg. He then impressed with top twenty finishes at both the World and European Championships.

Honoré credits crash with renewed motivation

“I am super excited to join the team next year, it means a lot to me, and it is a big point in my career to have such a change and join the mentality and philosophy of Team Jayco AlUla," he said in the announcement.

"Regarding the crash that I had earlier this season, it gave me a completely different perspective on life and cycling. In general I feel much more privileged to be able to do what I love. I think I am enjoying the racing a lot more now than before."

He added: "I still feel like I have a lot to give with all of my experienced and my own ambitions and I am really looking forward to being part of Team Jayco AlUla and trying to achieve great thing together in the future.”

Honoré will link up with team in upcoming training camp

The team are excited to add Honoré to their one-day classics line-up as they revealed that he will already ride alongside his new teammates in next week's team camp in Italy.

"It is something that we have done well in this year working with that group of riders with the likes of Schmid, Matthews, Vendrame, Covi and others. That is where we have been our strongest and it will be great to have Mikkel boost that group even further and bring an extra level of expertise," Gene Bates, Jayco's Head of Performance, said.

"It has been inspiring to see Mikkel have such a strong recovery after what was a very serious accident earlier in the season and bounce back to some of his best form with a strong world championships amongst other races over the past two months."

The move symbolises a setback for EF Education-Easypost, who lost Richard Carapaz last week to NSN Cycling Team. The American team confirmed the arrival of Tao Geoghegan Hart on Monday, but will miss Honoré's experience in the 2027 season.
